Recently, my sister had a horribly confusing theology professor (who shall also remain nameless). Once in a while my family remembers that's what I do for a living and ask me a question or two as they come up. On one such ocassion I was able to assist my dear sister with a few questions that had been plaguing her for an upcoming class. I was glad to oblige. And lucky for me, my mother's auto-correct still hasn't figured out that my sister's name is not really baby, but Abby. There are many things I do for my 9 month old daughter, but having in depth theological discussions is not one of them...yet!
i am so thankful you are available to help baby with her theology today

Red Carpet Rumpus
It has been far too long since the last edition of Hello Mudda. You can call it vernal vacuousness or March Mayhem (I'm not willing to pay for the use of the word "madness") but I call it like it is: laziness. Anyhow, here's a little gem that my sister caught several weeks ago whilst texting with the infamous irregular texter extraordinaire during the Academy Awards. Here's the red carpet commentary on Tim Gunn and Nina Garcia:
Tin and tina garcia are giving see carpet commentary on abc.
See you all next time...and it won't be a month this time, promise.

Driving in a Winter Wonderland
Oregon rarely gets snow. Just so happens that today, as my parents were driving back from the Coast, they were slippin and a slidin. Thankfully, they made it home safe. And thankfully, my mom was up to her usual texting tricks!
I wished them Godspeed and prayers for safe travel...
Thanks

Apparently, the roads weren't the only thing that was slushy! Thanks for the fun texts mom. Love you.

The Pack Is Not Back
As my mother was driving home from the Oregon Coast today, her beloved Green Bay Packers were in the process of losing to the NY Giants...sorry mom. I was sending her the score updates while they were on the road. The texting was about as good as the Packer's defense on Eli Manning:
The Packers will need to get their act together I'm the second half.
Aaron Rogers definitely was not the second half. Better luck next year cheeseheads.

Up In Adam
Last week during our family's southeran california Christmas vacation (in which no one ended up smelling worse than fish - in fact it was a delightful time), my mom texted me to see how we were all doing the day after they flew home.
Is everybody up in adam
Well...if we listen to Genesis 3, everyone is down in adam...but in this case, we were awake (and even more so thanks to Christ the second Adam)!

The Ale Effect
After a recent trip to the doctor's office, (praise the Lord and pass the antiobiotics!) my mom so kindly texted me to find out how it all went. Much better now, actually. The compassion and well wishes were appreciated...and the ale - did have a good effect.
It may take the medicine another day to ale effect.

The First Post:
This first post is dedicated to a delightfully hilarious (although not for pietist ears) book entitled $*&% My Dad Says. Imitation is the best form of flattery, so they say (whoever "they" are anyway). And in the spirit of good flattery the inspiriation for this blog struck me while listening to the audio book version the other day driving back from Venice Beach with my wife, daughter and sister (names forthcoming). Now, my mother would never be caught dead saying the kinds of things that Mr. Halpern says. However, she is very good at sending random text messages (with little fault of her own) which usually end up horribly butchered by that bloody auto-correct feature that we all would love to smash into oblivion if it weren't for the expensive replacement phone fees. Yes, of course it can be turned off, but then this little blog would not exist and my family would not have nearly as much fun enjoying the memorable mishaps of Mary's (that's my mother) text messages. So, enjoy the texts. And by all means, if you (yes, be honest we've all done it at least once) have any rather awkward, hilarious, ordinary or completely random text message mishaps of your own feel free and share. After all, that's what this blog is all about: spreading the joy and the bad grammar.
